TERNYATA TWITTER TIDAK POPULER DI AS

JAKARTA - Twitter ternyata tak begitu populer di negara induk semangnya, Amerika Serikat. Menurut lembaga riset Pew, hanya delapan persen pengguna internet dewasa di AS yang memanfaatkan situs mikrobloging itu.

Artinya, dari 74 persen penduduk AS yang merupakan pengguna internet aktif hanya enam persen dari total jumlah penduduk pengguna Twitter. Jumlah tweeps di sana sekitar 18 juta.

Angka ini jauh di bawah pengguna situs jejaring sosial Facebook yang mencapai 60 juta orang atau sekitar 20 persen dari total penduduk AS.

Pengguna Twitter di Negeri Paman Sam didominasi usia muda antara 18 sampai 29 tahun. Jumlah mencapai 14 persen.

Dari sisi ras, pengguna terbanyak adalah kaum minoritas yang terdiri atas hispanik (18 persen), Afrika Amerika (13 persen), dan hanya lima persen dari kulit putih.

Twitter paling banyak digunakan untuk mengabarkan kehidupan personal atau aktivitas penggunanya (72 persen), berkaitan dengan pekerjaan (62 persen), dan mentautkan artikel berita (55 persen).

Stockholm Diguncang Dua Ledakan, Satu Orang Tewas

2 ledakan mengguncang kawasan pertokoan yang ramai pengunjung di Kota Stockholm, Swedia, Sabtu (11/12). Satu orang tewas dan dua lainnya luka-luka. Menurut polisi setempat, ledakan pertama terjadi di tengah kota di depan toko yang sedang ramai pembeli. Tidak berselang lama, ledakan kedua terjadi di jalan yang sama dan terdengar lebih keras serta melukai satu orang. Korban tidak lama kemudian meninggal dunia.
Pihak kepolisian belum mengetahui pasti apakah dua ledakan tersebut saling terkait atau tidak. menurut sejumlah saksi mata, usai ledakan banyak orang berlarian menyelamatkan diri. Petugas penyelamat mengatakan mobil yang meledak, berisi kaleng bom asap. Selain menyebabkan satu orang tewas, ledakan juga menyebabkan dua korban mengalami luka bakar. Kini kedua korban dibawa ke rumah sakit. Swedia yang selama ini terhindar dari serangan teror, kini terus meningkatkan kewaspadaan dari ancaman serangan kelompok militan.(RIZ)

STOCKHOLM--MICOM: Menteri Luar Negeri Swedia Carl Bildt mengatakan bahwa ledakan yang terjadi di pusat perbelanjaan di Stockholm, Swedia, merupakan aksi teroris yang gagal.

"Kebanyakan pebisnis khawatir tentang serangan teroris di pusat bisnis Kota Stockholm. Meski dinilai gagal, tapi ini benar-benar sebuah bencana," tulis Carl Bildts dalam status media sosial twitter, Sabtu (11/12).

Dua ledakan mobil bom bunuh diri ini terjadi di pusat perbelanjaan Drottninggatan, Stockholm, Swedia, pada Sabtu malam. Peristiwa itu mengakibatkan sedikitnya satu orang tewas dan dua pengunjung luka-luka.

Seperti dikutip dari kantor berita Swedia, TT, beberapa saat sebelum peristiwa ledakan itu terjadi, polisi memang menerima e-mail yang menyebutkan bahwa ledakan ini terkait kehadiran pasukan Swedia di Afghanistan.

Namun hingga kini, kepolisian setempat belum bisa memastikan ledakan ini benar-benar dilakukan oleh kelompok teroris. Seperti diketahui, Swedia memang mengirimkan 400 personel ke Afghanistan di bawah komando pasukan koalisi pimpinan Amerika Serikat. (BBC/Rtr/OL-5)

PENAMPAKKAN HANTU DI AS


KOMPAS.com — Mungkin Anda tidak akan memercayai apa yang ada di hadapan pandangan Anda apabila menemukan makhluk seperti ini di tengah hutan pada malam hari. Apabila dilihat dari penampakannya dalam sebuah situs di internet, sosok ini menyerupai tokoh Spider-Man yang bergelayutan dalam tayangan Blair Witch Project.

Seorang pemburu rusa di AS mem-postingtayangan video ini di situs Wildgame Innovations, situs permainan bagi peminat berburu. Pemburu yang memilih tidak menyebutkan namanya itu mengaku melihat penampakan makhluk ini saat berada di tengah kegelapan gulita hutan pada suatu malam.

Makhluk tersebut digambarkan memiliki mata yang berkilauan cahaya dan berlompatan serta sempat menatap ke arah kamera sebelum menghilang di dalam semak belukar. Karena merasa sangat ketakutan dengan penampakan yang dihadapinya, pemburu itu terbirit-birit sehingga kamera yang digunakannya terjatuh dan rusak. Namun, tayangan penampakan yang disaksikannya itu masih bisa diselamatkan dari memori kamera yang ternyata tidak ikut rusak.

Tayangan ini didokumentasikan di Berwick, Morgan City, Louisiana. Para pengunduh di internet menyebut tayangan itu sebagai isapan jempol belaka. Salah satu pemberi komentar menyebutkan bahwa sosok itu diambil dari tayangan sebuah video game yang disaksikannya dua tahun lalu. Sementara sang pemburu bersikeras menyebutkan bahwa tayangan dari sosok yang berpose layaknya Spider-Man itu bukan tipuan.

2010, Facebook Nyaris Menguasai Dunia

Desember ini, Facebook telah mengalahkan Orkut di India.

Juni 2009, ada 17 media sosial bertebaran di seluruh dunia. Facebook adalah salah satu yang terbesar, namun belum mendominasi. Desember 2010, beberapa media sosial bertumbangan dikalahkan Facebook.

Adalah Vincenzo Cosenza yang melakukan penelusuran popularitas media sosial sejak Juni 2009 sampai Desember 2010. Dengan memakai Alexa dan Google Trends, Cosenza menemukan Facebook telah nyaris menguasai dunia.

Seperti dilansir Mashable, Facebook pada Juni 2009 mendominasi media sosial di Amerika Serikat, Inggris dan Australia. Desember ini, Facebook telah mengalahkan Orkut di India dan juga beberapa negara di Amerika Latin.

Friendster yang pada Juni 2009 masih dominan di Filipina juga digerus Facebook. Kemudian Hi5 yang populer di Thailand dan Portugal juga akhirnya dikalahkan Facebook.

Namun, sejumlah media sosial selain Facebook masih dominan di beberapa negara. Di Rusia, pemain utama adalah V. Kontakte. Orkut juga masih kuat di Brasil. Sementara China dengan QZone. Cosenza menghitung, ada 10 media sosial lain yang belum dikalahkan Facebook di sejumlah negara.

Aneh, Mata Kuliah 'Pengalaman Mati'


Dimulai menulis surat wasiat. Memakai kostum kematian. Masuk ke peti mati. Lalu dikubur.
Setiap dosen membutuhkan kreativitas membuat mata kuliah diterima mahasiswa dengan baik. Namun, bagaimana jika kreativitas itu mengharuskan mahasiswa masuk ke peti mati, dan membiarkannya 'terkubur' selama 10 menit.

Adalah Profesor Qiu Daneng yang punya ide gila itu. Dosen di Rende Medical College, Taiwan, itu yakin cara menakutkan itu akan membuat seluruh mahasiswa kedokteran bimbingannya bisa mengapreasi, atau tak menganggap remeh nilai kehidupan.

Daneng mengatakan, memberikan wawasan kematian kepada mahasiswa kedokteran penting sebagai bekal mempertahankan kehidupan masyarakat lewat profesinya.

Dalam mata kuliah itu, Daneng meminta semua mahasiswa memulainya dengan menulis semacam surat wasiat. Setelah 'mengafani' diri sendiri dengan busana untuk orang meninggal, mahasiswa itu kemudian diminta masuk ke dalam sebuah peti mati.

Dalam kondisi tertutup rapat, peti mati itu kemudian 'dikubur' di sebuah rongga di bawah lantai selama 10 menit. Namun, agar mahasiswanya  bisa tetap bernapas, Daneng sengaja mendesain peti itu dengan sejumlah celah yang memungkinkan sirkulasi oksigen terjaga. 

"Meski hanya 10 menit, efek ketakutannya sama seperti benar-benar mengalami kematian," kata Daneng seperti dilansir Orange News, Inggris.

Lalu apa kata mahasiswanya? "Saya merasa seperti dilahirkan kembali begitu keluar dari peti, dan saya menjadi lebih menghargai setiap detik dalam hidup saya," kata salah satu mahasiswa, Xiao Lin

19. Masjid e Tooba (Gol Masjid), Karachi, Pakistan
Masjid e Tooba or Tooba Mosque is located in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Locally, it is also known as the Gol Masjid. Masjid e Tooba was built in 1969 in Defense Housing Society, Karachi is nineteenth largest mosque in the world. It is located just off main Korangi Road. Masjid e Tooba is often claimed to be the largest single dome mosque in the world. It is also major tourist attraction in Karachi. Masjid e Tooba is built with pure white marble. The Id Kah Mosque is a mosque  located in Kashgar, Xinjiang, in the western People’s Republic of China. It is the largest mosque in China and twelfth largest mosque in the world . Every Friday, it houses nearly 10,000 worshippers and may accommodate up to 20,000. The mosque  was built by Saqsiz Mirza in ca. 1442 (although it incorporated older structures dating back to 996) and covers 16,800 square meters.

In 1992 Sultan Qaboos directed that his country of Oman should have a Grand Mosque. A competition for its design took place in 1993 and after a site was chosen at Bausher construction commenced in 1995. Building work, which was undertaken by Carillion  Alawi LLC took six years and four months. The Mosque  is built from 300,000 tonnes of Indian sandstone and eleventh largest mosque in the world. Jama Masjid, commonly known as the Jama Masjid of Delhi, is the principal mosque of Old Delhi in India. The Faisal Mosque in Islamabad  is the largest mosque in Pakistan and South Asia and the sixth largest mosque in the world. It was the largest mosque in the world from 1986 to 1993 when overtaken in size by the completion of the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco. Subsequent expansions of the Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque) of Mecca and the Al-Masjid al-Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque) in Medina, Saudi Arabia during the 1990s relegated Faisal Mosque to fourth place in terms of size. Faisal Mosque is conceived as the National Mosque of Pakistan. It has a covered area of 5,000 m2 (54,000 sq ft) and has a capacity to accommodate approximately 300,000 worshippers (100,000 in its main prayer hall, courtyard and porticoes and another 200,000 in its adjoining grounds).

Located in Casablanca is the largest mosque in Morocco  and the fifth largest mosque in the world. Designed by the French architect  Michel Pinseau and built by Bouygues.[1]  It stands on a promontory looking out to the Atlantic, which can be seen through a gigantic glass floor with room for 25,000 worshippers. A further 80,000 can be accommodated in the mosque’s adjoining grounds for a total of 105,000 worshippers present at any given time at the Hassan II mosque. Its minaret is the world’s tallest at 210 m (689 ft).
