A fire struck in Honduras Prison, 200 prisoners killed


A great fire swept a jail in Honduras, Central America. As a result of this incident, at least 200 inmates were killed and dozenswounded.

"We're evacuating the bodies out of the building and we get 200bodies. His condition is very serious. Most died of suffocation,"said the head of the prison, Danilo Orellana told AFP onWednesday (15/02/2012).

Spoken to him, the assumptions of the fire was not sparked by abrawl between inmates. The fire started around 22:50 pm tonight,Tuesday (14/2) local time.

Investigators are still investigating the cause of the fire. Fireallegedly caused by electrical short circuit or due to the action of a prisoner.

It is known that the prison is located in the region as far as 140km from Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras is to accommodate 850 inmates. Most prisons in Latin America to accommodate too many inmates. Especially in poor countrieslike Honduras, where a lot of gang violence and drug trafficking.
